The Londoner will return to the scene of his triumph on Wednesday morning when he competes in the 5,000m heats – his first step towards what would be a sensational long-distance Olympic double if he can repeat his victory in the 5,000m final on Saturday. And any doubts that he may still be feeling the after-effects of his exertions four days ago have been dispelled by Salazar, who says Farah and his American training partner and Olympic 10,000m silver medallist, Galen Rupp, are both in perfect condition. “I’m delighted with the way Mo and Galen have recovered from the race,” said Salazar, who has masterminded Farah’s transformation in to a world beater over the past 18 months.
